Linda Mountford
Job Title: Northern Europe Commercial HR Director
What development opportunities are available at both John West and Thai Union?
There are many opportunities. Our John West Academy enables our Crew to develop their knowledge of our industry and category. We also support leadership development through our Controller program and offer extensive professional development support. There are also lots of opportunities to get involved in European and Global projects and we are currently developing our Global Thai Union Academy. We also actively share local and global job opportunities with all our Crew.
What was it that attracted you to John West?
Like for most people John West has always been a cupboard staple, from childhood, my University years through to today. However, that wasn’t the only reason. I was extremely impressed with the leadership both Thai Union and John West have demonstrated in the area of sustainability. Thai Union’s Sea Change program is extensive and delivers meaningful improvements across all of the seafood industry. It was also clear to me that John West is very much a values driven organisation one that treats its people with respect and encourages a strong sense of team spirit and collaboration. This is very important to me as HR Director. Being part of Thai Union also means there are a wealth of possibilities and opportunities to grow and develop further.
Could you also give some information about the Business Culture award that was won for Learning?
We were extremely proud to be awarded this in recognition of all the work we have done to support Crew development. In particular two major initiatives were recognised, the John West Academy and our leadership development programs. The Business Culture team recognised how our development programme’s are genuinely building engagement, focus and resiliency at every level in the business!
