Job Title: Global Innovation Manager

Can you tell us about your career journey at John West and Thai Union – what have been the main highlights?

I joined John West as Senior Category Manager in 2013 before being promoted to Head of Category in 2015. During my time in the Category team the key highlights were developing and implementing two progressive category strategies, achieving the #1 ranking in the Advantage Group Survey and helping drive John West market share from 32% to 39%. I joined the Thai Union Global Innovation team in late 2018 and – to date – the main highlight has been collaborating with the global brands to reapply successful products from one market to multiple markets more efficiently and effectively. There are more ‘highlights’ to come through – watch this space..!

What do you think of Thai Unions commitment to sustainability?

Thai Union are changing not just the Seafood industry, but leading the way for companies in other industries – being #1 on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index reflects this. Given the links between the red meat production and climate change, sustainably sourced seafood is going to increasingly important to ensure that the global population has access to the natural protein needed for a healthy diet.

That’s part of the attraction – there is no typical week! I’m fortunate to work on a variety of global projects which means I collaborate with the teams in different countries, as well as reporting back to senior stakeholders. It’s not your typical 9 to 5 job.
